About Top Dog

Top Dog’s founder and Managing Director, James Lawrence, started out as a journalist and has 30+ years’ experience of communicating with target audiences, using almost any conceivable channel or format – from print to digital, from web to social media and more.

 

Before founding Top Dog, James was an award-winning Editorial Director at Redwood, one of the UK’s largest content marketing agencies. There, he led high-profile and complex projects for some of the world’s biggest brands, including Fujitsu, HP Inc, Barclays, Arup, FedEx, AkzoNobel, The Co-op and Volvo.

Top Dog’s current clients include CIH Solutions, Damilah Technology and Digital Urban. Our aim is to enable SMEs and start-ups to benefit from the sophisticated marketing techniques deployed by large corporations – but without the hefty price tag. We do that by maintaining a simple and relentless focus on strategy, engaging content and positive outcomes.

As a journalist, James also contributes to Raconteur's business and technology supplements in The Times; is Editor-at-Large for St James's Place's quarterly magazine, The Investor; and has been a Contributing Editor at Fujitsu's award-winning thought-leadership platform, I – Global Intelligence for the CIO, for which he regularly interviewed some of the world's leading business thinkers and IT decision-makers. He is also a Special Adviser for Covostra, a healthcare engagement consultancy.

Since January 2019, James has been proud to volunteer as a board trustee for children's bereavement charity Stand-by-me, where he has responsibility for marketing and communications.
